Client: Urbanest
Contractor: Mace
Lucas has successfully completed a comprehensive decorations package at Palmerston Court, a landmark development that marks the launch of the new Battersea Design and Tech Quarter (BDTQ). Situated directly opposite the iconic Battersea Power Station on the south side of Battersea Park Road, the scheme represents a significant step in the wider regeneration of the area, combining sustainability, innovation, and community use.
Led by private student accommodation provider Urbanest and delivered by main contractor Mace, Palmerston Court is a high-quality, mixed-use development comprising three residential towers and a 12-storey commercial office building with a basement level. The student accommodation provides modern living space for more than 850 residents and targets the rigorous PassivHaus standard for environmental performance. The adjacent office building is aiming for a BREEAM Outstanding rating and also features a ground-level public house to serve the local community.
Lucas was appointed to carry out the full decorations package across the development. Our teams painted throughout the student apartments, front-of-house areas, and all communal spaces. We also applied a range of specialist coatings in the back-of-house and basement areas, including dust sealers, safety coatings, and our own Muralplast multisurface paint – chosen for its durability and performance in high-use environments.
The project demanded careful coordination and a high level of finish throughout, particularly in light of the ambitious environmental targets set by the client. Our experience working across complex, large-scale developments in Battersea – including multiple contracts as part of the Battersea Power Station regeneration – ensured that we were well positioned to deliver efficiently, while meeting the project’s high sustainability and quality benchmarks.
Palmerston Court plays a pivotal role in the evolution of Battersea into a destination for design, technology and learning. Lucas is proud to have supported this next chapter in the area’s regeneration, bringing our expertise to a development that reflects both the future of sustainable construction and the growing demand for high-specification, community-oriented urban spaces.
