Project

Lucas has built a series of major off site mock-ups to assist with design evaluations for a huge new office development underway at Broadgate in the City of London. This will be one of the largest office developments ever built in London.

The Lucas team hired a large hangar in Kent and erected drywall cladding around a full size, two storey structural steel staircase and completed floor finishes, grills, joinery, metal cladding, decorations, lighting and fire detection. We also built a core area corridor and mocked-up a lift lobby with stainless steel frames and panels, stone flooring and suspended ceilings.

Our elaborate preparatory work allowed the architects, developer and the end-user to evaluate the proposed building in fine detail ahead of construction.

The project at 5 Broadgate is a 700,000 sq ft (67,000 sq m) office building designed by international architects Make and developed by British Land and Blackstone as the new headquarters for the financial services group UBS. It is being constructed by Mace. The project is on a site previously occupied by 4 and 6 Broadgate and is a major milestone in the development of this important City of London business community.

Lucas continues to play a key role on the project as we undertake the general decorations package for the shell and core of the building. We are applying specialist coatings to back of house areas including car parks, Muralplast’s MSP (multi surface paint) to all metalwork, and decorating all front of house areas ready for the final fit out.
