Project

We're thrilled that the Lucas team was once again invited to contribute to Mace's stunning installation for Pride 2024. This is a tradition we've been honoured to be a part of for several years now.

This year's installation features a captivating wooden structure holding 66 Perspex tubes. Each tube is filled with thousands of origami "Lucky Stars" in the vibrant colours of the progress flag. An incredible feat, all 30,000 stars were meticulously folded by Mace's dedicated global staff of over 7,000. The origami even journeyed from as far away as Hong Kong and Iceland.

The stunning sculpture was unveiled recently by Mark Reynolds, Carline Lassen, Andrew Jackson, and the committee, with a special guest appearance by Sian James, who was portrayed in the acclaimed 2014 film "Pride." The installation will proudly grace the lobby of Mace's global headquarters at 155 Moorgate throughout June.

Mace expressed their sincere appreciation for Lucas's contribution: "The effort from your teams in building, painting, and bringing the sculpture to Moorgate is hugely appreciated by the committee and Mace."

Here at Lucas, we firmly believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) reports that a staggering 60% of LGBTQ+ employees have experienced discrimination at work, and over a third have felt compelled to hide their identities for fear of prejudice. This is unacceptable.

We're committed to celebrating the richness of a diverse workforce and becoming the most inclusive employer in our field. We actively strive to attract the best talent, regardless of background, and are dedicated to playing a leading role in driving positive change within the industry.
