Lucas reaches five year milestone as an Official Partner of McLaren
Lucas’s partnership with McLaren is five years old and has driven the introduction of new technologies and now much leaner methods of working throughout our operations.

It all started in 2010 when Lucas won the opportunity to undertake major fit out and finishing works for the new McLaren Production Centre (MPC) at the company’s Woking headquarters. This was a new facility for the production of McLaren’s iconic high performance road cars.

The innovative methods, materials and high quality finishes we achieved at the MPC impressed the McLaren management team, while we were struck by the technologies and attention to detail adopted by McLaren every day. So our partnership was formed.
Our remit expanded to completely refinish the Foster + Partners designed McLaren Technology Centre built in 2004 and readied in time for the official launch of the MPC by the then Prime Minister David Cameron.
Zak Brown, McLaren's newly-appointed Executive Director added: "I’m hugely excited and energised by the opportunity to join McLaren in a new leadership role in order to drive value for great brands such as Lucas through the strengthening of our partnership proposition and proud F1 race team. Lucas’s ongoing support is particularly important to me, as we work harder and smarter to quickly realise our collective ambition – to win."

Lucas Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Danny Lucas, said: "Ever since I was a boy I was inspired by the top performance car manufacturers and how they went about running their businesses. I wanted to adopt a similar approach at Lucas and when we met McLaren, the synergy between our two organisations stood out immediately. Construction can learn so much from this sector and under my leadership, Lucas is now driving lean thinking into all parts of our business and across all projects"
Lucas has passed five major milestones since becoming an Official Partner of the McLaren Technology Centre.

We look forward to many more years of working with McLaren

The completion of a group of signature London projects which included The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest tower, the London 2012 Olympic Stadium and projects in the Olympic Park including the Velodrome and the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Milestone 1
The opening of the Lucas Technology Centre. It is inspired by McLaren and incorporates our research and development laboratories, our colour matching facility and our Innovation Centre where our clients, their architects, designers and specifiers can create great projects and solutions.
Milestone 2
The launch of Lucas ProTools at McLaren HQ. Lucas ProTools offer high end, best quality products that continue to develop the Lucas brand as "The best finish in the industry". Lucas ProTools are the best brushes on the market with the finest DuPont filaments, handcrafted wooden handles and ergonomic styling. They won a Red Dot design award and appear in Red Dot’s design museums in Germany and Singapore alongside the likes of Apple.
Milestone 3
Establishing Lucas Off Site and our first high end bathroom pod. There are considerable advantages of the offsite manufacture of kitchen and bathroom pods. The whole process is a lot more efficient than having trades work on site, wastage is cut to virtually zero, quality is completely controllable, and the project is much more easily managed. We delivered our first pods to Television Centre, the rebuilt and refurbished former home of BBC Television in west London.
Milestone 4
Completing £30 million of fit out and finishing projects in 2016. In a big year for Lucas, completed projects have included South Bank Tower beside the River Thames in central London, the Tate Modern extension and South Quay Plaza in Docklands, with Nova Victoria and 1 Angel Court in the City just coming up for completion shortly.
