Lucas refurbishment and decorating teams are working flat out at Television Centre, the major redevelopment scheme transforming the former BBC Television Centre in west London.
Our refurbishment specialists are working on the original staircases within the Grade II listed circular TV Centre building known as The Helios. We are burnishing the handrails of these heritage staircases, reviving the stair treads, landings and corridors.
We are undertaking a full decorations programme for the 162 luxury one and two bedroom apartments and penthouses created in the Helios, having spray-applied plaster to their original ribbed concrete ceilings in an earlier package of works.
We are also refurbishing the main lobby of the Helios building, painting out all the ceiling mounted services with black Muralplast MSP and applying a bronze green coating to the ceiling grid, all part of the programme to create a modern apartment complex in what is considered a masterpiece building of the mid-twentieth century.
We are also decorating 270 one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and penthouses in The Crescent, the curved new-build outer apartment complex that curves round the Helios, forming the residential courtyard and garden centrepiece of the whole scheme. Television Centre will also incorporate office and studio spaces, and entertainment and leisure facilities including a new Soho House hotel.
Lucas was on site when work first started, carrying out several enabling projects including mock ups, a marketing suite, temporary offices, workforce facilities and even bathroom pods.
Television Centre is being developed by Stanhope in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCO and the construction manager is Mace. It is also adjacent to another big development, White City Place, where Lucas has also carried out a number of fit out packages.
