Starring role in the US for the Lucas Profinish brush

Lucas has fulfilled its largest ever order for the Profinish brush following a global search by the Journeyman and Apprentices Association of America for the perfect professional gift for graduating student painting apprentices. The call came through from Jed Hartley who runs the Regional Training Center for the Association covering Oregon and South West Washington.

New 3D printing laboratory comes on stream

The first fruits of Lucas’s investment in the latest 3D printing technologies are now apparent with two early important commissions. Our collaboration with global 3D printing specialist Stratasys gives us rapid prototyping capabilities to produce bespoke components, design new elements, solve on-site construction problems and prevent project delays.

Lucas feels the power at Battersea

Lucas has secured a major role in the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, the iconic Grade II* listed building at the heart of the complete regeneration of this quarter of south London. Last year Lucas deployed a fit out team to the site for Construction Manager, Mace, to complete a complex programme of temporary accommodation works to cater for over 2,000 construction workers delivering Phase 2 of this huge mixed use development.

Bright young things join Lucas

Lucas has been making every effort to interest young people and bring them into the construction industry. It is why we invested in our new Visitor and Learning Centre and welcomed in schools and other visitors during Open Doors week, and why we tried to forge strong links with further education colleges across the country. Well, we are delighted to have recruited four new youngsters in recent months to our head office team and pleased that they are all settling in well.

Lucas has won an important decorating package at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) in Lincoln’s Inn Fields in Central London. The historic building is undergoing a major refurbishment which the College calls “Project Transform”. The main contractor on the project is Wates Construction.

Lucas Becomes Carbon Neutral

28th August 2019

Lucas has commissioned a specialist environmental appraisal firm to measure the company’s carbon footprint and has subsequently offset this to become carbon neutral. The appraisal covered all the company’s activities at HQ and out on site for the calendar year 2018 and Lucas’s total equivalent carbon dioxide emissions came to 117.77 tonnes. That’s equivalent to 3.93 tonnes per £million of turnover.

Plamen’s big swim for the British Lung Foundation

21st August 2019

Lucas contracts manager Plamen Valchanov is taking the plunge in the Serpentine to raise money for the British Lung Foundation (BLF). He will swim a full lap of the lake (that’s one mile) in London’s Hyde Park in September as part of Swim Serpentine, a one day open water swimming festival organised for Children with Cancer UK.

Lucas Wins for Service Excellence

Lucas are proud to receive the group award for Service Excellence at Greenwich Square. This award comes in quick succession after Lucas site manager Danny Filipov was also recognised for a Health and Safety award last week. Some points highlighted in the service excellence criteria are to take a proactive approach when completing QA on the BIM system, accurately recording and closing out snagging, holding regular high-quality toolbox talks to educate operatives and reduce snags, and to work collaboratively with the Mace team to improve quality.
