Emirates Air Line – Two safety awards for Lucas Fit Out
At the groundbreaking cable car project on the river Thames, Lucas Fit Out received two well-deserved awards. In February, we received the monthly health and safety award for an outstanding performance during that period. Also, we were the proud winners of the health and safety league table for our consistently excellent performance throughout the project.
The work involved the complete internal fit out of the north and south stations at both sides of the Thames in East London. This included all partition walls, floor and ceiling finishes, toilet, shower and kitchen areas, specialist desks for the ticket offices and all decorations. Given the unique features of the project, the work involved many bespoke elements, including structural and architectural metalwork as well as the construction of both station control rooms. The intense nature of the project, and a continuously changing scope meant our team had to perform at its optimum best to collaborate and manage the complexities. Despite the highly pressurized nature of the work, with the need to push completion before the opening of the 2012 Olympic Games, our team performed excellently in completing the project to our usual high standard, ensuring complete safety throughout.
