Lucas scoops core package at The Whiteley

Lucas has won an important basement and core painting package at The Whiteley, the famous former Bayswater department store now undergoing a £1 bn restoration and redevelopment.

The façade and grand entrance of the Grade II listed building are being restored, and the full Foster + Partners-designed complex will contain 139 apartments and townhouses, 20 new shops and restaurants in a central courtyard, a cinema, a large-scale gym, and a Six Senses hotel and spa - the first in Britain - with 110 rooms and a social wellness club.

The Lucas team will apply specialist coatings to basement and back-of-house core areas as well as blacking out soffits in the underground car park.

Laing O’Rourke is the main contractor. The project is a joint venture between property investment firm MARK and Hong Kong developer C C Land with luxury homes specialist Finchatton acting as development manager.
