“Stop the spread” initiative helps Lucas operations get back up and running
The Lucas team is staying ahead of the game now that the Government has asked for construction operations in the UK to continue.
Projects are beginning to re-start under new site operating procedures issued by the Construction Leadership Council, and Lucas has put in place a suite of special safety measures in response to the coronavirus emergency to get its operations back up and running.
We have launched a “Stop the spread” safety initiative to ensure all operatives are protected and fully aware of new site rules.
These include social distancing when travelling to and from site, additional hygiene measures and new site behaviours in canteens and walkways that have been reconfigured to comply with Public Health England guidelines.
The campaign also applies to all Lucas offices.
The company is repurposing its soft-wheeled project close out kits originally, part of its Concierge service, into “Stop the spread” kits containing extra safety items for operatives including latex gloves, thermometers, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizer and hazard bags for used personal protective equipment (PPE).
Lucas is also installing free-standing sanitizer stations on its biggest projects which automatically dispense hand sanitizer touch-free.
To provide staff with further assurance. Lucas has set up its own Coronavirus advice hotline headed up by Dr Deryk Waller, GP and Occupational Health Physician.
Mental health will remain at the fore and continue to be supported by Lucas’s twenty-strong mental health first-aiders with professional independent counselling provided where needed by our occupational health partners All-Health Matters.
Danny Lucas, Executive Chairman and Managing Director, said: “Our people should feel as safe as houses when returning to work for us. Government wants the industry to be back in operation again but we want everyone to feel just as safe at work as they do at home.
We are making a special video for operatives emphasising our “Stop the spread” message and have also introduced a new app so that site managers can easily replenish the new safety kits via a dispensary-style service from our logistics team.”
