Speaking the right language at International House

Lucas has successfully completed an intensive refurbishment project at a language school in Covent Garden, Central London.

The work for Como, Mace’s fit-out business, at International House had to be undertaken during a short two week shutdown of the school so our team regularly clocked up 12 and 14 hour days over the holiday period to ensure the work was completed on time.

We demolished an old cafeteria in the 1930s building and installed new floors, walls and a feature suspended ceiling incorporating bespoke lighting troughs to create a bright, modern eating and relaxation area for students. Our work included assembling the lighting troughs and kitchen units offsite, realigning the subfloor, and stripping and re- staining the wooden flooring. We then undertook a complete redecoration of the new cafeteria.

At the same time we refurbished a social IT area for the students including re-wiring the area, fitting new sockets and trunking. We also refurbished a second relaxation area on level 9 of the building involving the re-siting of partition walls, new kitchen units, new carpets and a full redecoration programme.
