Lucas’s commitment to continuous improvement sees introduction of new innovation culture programme

Lucas’s long-held commitment to continually improving its business performance sees the introduction of a new innovation culture programme to all employees and operatives across the group.

Plan–Do–Check–Act or the PDCA cycle is a well-established way of encouraging new ideas, testing them out and introducing better business practices for continually improving performance.

The process first identifies and understands problem issues or new opportunities, implements changes in a limited and controlled way that tests the new plans, checks that improvements are being made, and then fully implements our new solutions. Constant checking ensures this is a continuing cycle of improvement, not a one-off process.

Lucas has been working with outside innovation specialists to ensure we introduce an effective PDCA process that will encourage the entire team to identify and suggest genuinely new ideas and be properly rewarded for their efforts.

PDCA is now being incorporated into our Lucas Team App, an interactive app that ensures all our operatives are fully up-to-date with site information, their skills training and certification, and health and well-being assessments.
