Olympia project earns accolade from the Painting and Decorating Association
The project to paint the Grand Hall at the Olympia exhibition and conference centre in London last summer has been “highly commended” by the Painting and Decorating Association after featuring in the PDA’s Premier Trophy Awards 2010 in the industrial painting category. Our spray painting team under the direction of Contracts Manager Paul Jearum had just a few weeks during July and August to complete the work to fit in with Olympia’s schedule of exhibitions. The work was even put on temporary hold twice while planned events went ahead at the venue.
The ornate Victorian steelwork soars up to 135 feet above ground under a vast glass roof which made working conditions extremely hot at the height of the summer and the performance of our team all the more impressive. So impressive that during the works, we are asked to paint the National Hall in the exhibition complex too, all within the same tight time schedule. Independent judges for the PDA inspected the work and interviewed our client about all aspects of the project programme. S. Lucas will receive the award in June at the annual award ceremony to be held at Painter’s Hall, London. Earlier this year, the group was proclaimed winner of Construction News’ Specialist Awards 10 in the Finishing and Fit Out category.
