Major office refit successfully completed
A major £600k refit involving the total refurbishment of two complete office floors has just been successfully completed four weeks ahead of schedule and 'snag-free' by S. Lucas Ltd working for MACE Ltd.The 18-week programme involved S. Lucas in co-ordinating the range of sub-contractors required to undertake the wide variety of work involved in the project, including mechanical and electrical contractors. The offices are sited next to a main data hall which was given the protection of underfloor bunding installed to prevent any possible ingress of water. The offices themselves were equipped with new raised access flooring faced with vinyl-bonded floor tiles.
The suspended ceilings were also replaced together with lighting, and new joinery - skirtings, door frames and doors - completed the picture. New kitchens were also installed together with disabled toilets and shower cubicles, all fitted with ceramic wall tiles and water resistant, safety vinyl flooring. The reception hall was fitted with a new purpose-designed desk and a feature wall in ArmourColor wall coating. Redecoration covered not only the refurbished offices but four staircases as well, and these were also fitted with new epoxy flooring on the landings. As with any complex project, site issues were resolved as the work progressed and it was S. Lucas's willingness and ability to do this that impressed Steve Burrowes, MACE's Project Manager. "S. Lucas were able to commit resources to the job as required which, coupled with their helpful attitude, made the whole experience pretty user friendly," he concludes. The package at a glance:
