My round up of 2016 - Danny Lucas
It’s hard to believe that I’m looking back as yet another year has gone by. We’ve been busy, there have been corporate developments and progress made on so many fronts. Where does the time go?
We’ve had some really big wins this year on projects now well under way, nearly £30 million worth of fit out and finishing projects (more than in any other year in our history) and we are offering more and more super fit outs as a valuable service to our large clients. For the contractor and developer, it means slicing away parts of the project and de-risking. A very attractive proposition.
Massively important to me is that we maintain our emphasis on safe working, every single day and on every single project. Our comprehensive health and safety training regimes are paying off in style. In September we clocked up over one million hours of safe working without a reportable accident or incident. We’re pleased to hit top performance regularly on individual project health and safety league tables, but we are particularly proud of reaching this milestone!
We have just celebrated the fifth anniversary of our partnership with McLaren. I feel inspired by the partnership every day and it is the driving force behind our introduction of new technologies and now much leaner methods of working throughout our operations.
The new Lucas Technology Centre is inspired by McLaren and incorporates our research and development labs, our colour matching facility and our Innovation Centre where our clients, their architects, designers and specifiers can create great projects and solutions, We are currently looking into a revolutionary new surface treatment that I’m really excited about! I would love to give you a tour of our facilities so come and see it for yourself in the new year.
It was a privilege to be able to take three Chelsea Pensioners on a visit to McLaren. It was a lovely day for Don, Ken and Alan who not only had a grand tour of the building but also met two McLaren “greats”, Ray “Tex” Rowe and Neil Trundle. Smashing gents, all of them.
From old television studios to F1 race cars. Like I said, a very busy year, varied but extremely satisfying when Lucas is continuing to provide a great service to our brilliant clients. To be continued next year – that’s for sure, and while we are on the subject of next year I would like to take the opportunity to inform you of our Christmas opening hours:
Office Closure: Friday 23rd December 2016 (12pm)
Office re opening: Tuesday 3rd January 2017 (8am)
Everyone at Lucas and I hope you have a fantastic festive break and look forward to working with you in 2017
