Lucas wins major decorations project for the Bodleian Libraries, Oxford

Lucas has won a major decorations project for the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford, which is currently undergoing a £80 million restoration and rebuilding programme.
The New Bodleian Library is a Grade II listed building designed by Giles Gilbert Scott and completed in 1940. It is one of a number of buildings in central Oxford that form part of the world-famous Bodleian Libraries.
The building is being completely redeveloped behind the protected façade by Mace, and will be home to the Bodleian’s special collections when it reopens as the Weston Library in 2015.
As the library will house precious manuscripts, books and maps for world scholarship, the Lucas decorations team will be using ultra-low VOC paints developed by our construction partner Dulux from its Ecosure range. Our programme of works will start with the three-storey basement storage areas and will lead on to the second stage of reading rooms, exhibition galleries, offices and other facilities as the new building reaches completion.
