Lucas projects take centre stage in Project of the Year shortlist
Lucas’s fit out and finishing skills played a key role in no less than three of the six projects that were shortlisted for Building Magazine’s prestigious Project of the Year award announced yesterday.
The three projects were the Emirates Air Line, the cable car crossing high over the River Thames; The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building; and Westfield Stratford City, Europe’s largest urban shopping centre.
Lucas teams were deployed to carry out a wide range of construction, fit out, decorating and finishing tasks on these signature London projects ranging from platform buildings and station fit outs, structural steelwork painting in extremely harsh conditions, to applying specialist sealants and coatings to back-of-house areas.
The flexibility of our approach to the tasks entrusted to us, our problem-solving abilities and our “can do” attitude to some of the tightest construction schedules, contributed to the success of all three projects and their appearance on the shortlist.
The Project of the Year was won by The Shard and announced at a special industry dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
