Lucas joins volunteer day on the Grand Union

Lucas senior project manager Richard Wilson joined a group of volunteers from the Mace Foundation to give a fresh new look to Osterley Lock on the Grand Union Canal in West London.
The volunteer team set about clearing the lock area and repainting the distinctive black and white lock gates and side stones that are a familiar site to help canal folk pass safely through with their narrow boats on their way along the “cut”.
The voluntary work was carried out for the Canal & River Trust, a charity responsible for some 2,000 miles of waterways in England and Wales, who praised the work and said the lock now looked a 100% better.
“Fortunately it was a lovely August day and the lock looked really smart once we had finished our tasks” said Richard. “We’re working with Mace on a project nearby so it is gratifying to volunteer with some practical help in the area.”
