S. Lucas secures decorations package for the UK’s first open innovation bioscience campus
S. Lucas has won the general decorations package for phase 1 of the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, the UK’s first open innovation bioscience campus. The first phase includes a new 4,750 sq. metre Incubator building and a 4,100 sq. metre Accelerator building to house start-up and small biosciences companies. The Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst is located on the campus of GlaxoSmithKline and is a joint venture between that company, the Wellcome Trust, the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, the East of England Development Agency and the Technology Strategy Board. Both first phase buildings are being built by Mace and are due for completion in November following a topping-out ceremony earlier this summer involving the Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts. The Incubator is being fully-fitted out with the S. Lucas team painting the offices, laboratories, plant rooms and back-of-house areas. The Accelerator will be finished and decorated to the level of shell and core for potential tenants to complete their own bespoke fit outs.
