Lucas completes refurbishment and decorations for mixed-use complex on Commercial Road, East London

Lucas is just completing a series of refurbishment works and decorations for a mixed-use complex on Commercial Road in East London. The work was carried out for international consultancy and construction company Mace.
The project itself involved the demolition and reconstruction of a former warehouse and brewery building which were both Grade II listed buildings, the brewery having been built in 1845. In addition to the refurbishment element, the project involved a new build 18 storey tower of 317 self- contained apartments predominantly for the high end student accommodation market.
Within the warehouse and brewery building, the Lucas project team decorated and fire protected the shell and core space including ornate Victorian cast steel columns and beams ready for future commercial occupation.
The new 18-storey tower contains premium quality student accommodation in the form of single rooms, and double suites on the upper floors with extensive views over London.
In addition, Lucas also completed the decorations for a new five-storey office building that links into and forms an integral part of the former brewery, including all of the toilet and main circulation areas in both the new offices and the former brewery.
