S. Lucas Group awarded top international environmental standard - Group companies achieve ISO 140001
The S. Lucas group has been awarded the ISO 140001 certificate of top environmental performance after a stringent period spent developing our environmental management systems and having them put through a rigorous appraisal by external assessors. ISO 140001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out a blueprint for developing an effective environmental management system. In order to achieve this standard, we have reviewed and updated all our policies and practices throughout the business and across all the sites at which we operate. Our headquarters systems have been put to the test, managers challenged, waste policies examined and site practices reviewed. Full training to our managers has been given to ensure that the highest environmental standards and practices are maintained. Over the years the company has been at the forefront of the move to use water-based paints, we have built our own logistics centre to improve transport efficiencies and cut environmental impacts, and developed roller and brush washout stations that turn waste paint into an inert “biscuit” for safe disposal. Danny Lucas, Managing Director, said: “I am delighted we have achieved our ISO 140001 certification because we have placed great emphasis on living up to our environmental responsibilities. I am determined the group will remain fully compliant and continue to improve our systems.”
