Lucas reduces its carbon footprint in 2019 by 20%

Lucas has succeeded in meeting its pledge to reduce the company’s carbon emissions in 2019.
A specialist environmental appraisal firm has measured the company’s carbon footprint for the second year running and our CO₂e emissions fell from an already encouraging level of just under 118 tonnes in 2018 down to 94 tonnes in 2019.
In addition we have offset our lower emissions by supporting a programme in Brazil to reduce the rate of deforestation in that country and also supported the planting of broad-leaved trees in the UK.
As a result we have been afforded a “carbon neutral plus” rating and our performance in cutting our emissions is judged to be good for a company of our size.
Danny Lucas, Executive Chairman and Managing Director, said: “We have cut down on our use of motor vehicles by carefully managing our logistics and journey patterns. And by maintaining a modern fleet and other sensible measures both out on the road and back at HQ, I’m delighted we have seen our emission levels fall. I intend that we keep up the great effort.”
