Historic job done
S Lucas has completed a sensitive redecoration programme at the Guildhall, the home of the City of London Corporation. It is almost 600 years old, a medieval Grade 1 listed building at the heart of the City’s administrative and ceremonial activities. It is an important part of the country’s history and a very precious building. We were appointed by Bovis Lend Lease to carry out the careful redecoration of the Great Hall and the Old Library where our newly painted surfaces had to be cut in and match the fabulous, intricate medieval stonework of the building. We also carried out redecorations behind the scenes in the kitchen areas and as part of a full refurbishment programme of the newer North Block through seven floors of offices plus basements. S Lucas Project Manager Andy Collins said: “Our team took great care with all its working arrangements to complete the programme on time whilst the Guildhall continued to be occupied throughout the project.” Warren Glaister Project Director for Bovis Lend Lease said “S. Lucas produced an extremely competent performance under very difficult circumstances.”
