Lucas Hand Wash Stations
Lucas has designed, developed and is now manufacturing prominent, free-standing hand wash stations for construction sites and elsewhere, as part of the battle to beat coronavirus and keep the industry working under the new operating guidelines.
We have put in place manufacturing arrangements that ensure a continuous supply of our own 80% alcohol hand sanitizer which has been tested and certified to the internationally recognised EN1500 standard.
The initiative is part of our “Stop the spread” campaign and we are launching an online store to take orders for the hand wash stations and other hygiene products aimed at combating the spread of the virus.
We hope that the sale of the stations will raise at least £250,000 for the British Lung Foundation (BLF) with whom we are already a Living Well Alliance partner.
BLF recently joined forces with Asthma UK and the two charities are now working together to support the estimated 1 in 5 adults in the UK who suffer with some sort of lung disorder and are most vulnerable to covid-19.
Lucas is also donating some wash stations to care homes and NHS facilities where they are most needed.
In a separate development arising from our recent efforts to provide equipment to the medical community, we have joined the “#TrueColours” movement which recognises initiatives and acts of kindness carried out by individuals and companies within DIY and construction involved with paints and commercial coatings.
Staff from Lucas and Dulux have recorded a version of Cindy Lauper’s song “True Colours” as the movement goes nationwide.
Danny Lucas said: “This is win-win. We are supplying a much-needed product which is essential for the health of construction workers and for keeping our industry working. It means my joinery workshop and logistics people who support our projects are operating fully. The stations could of course be deployed elsewhere where needed and I hope we’ll raise funds that will support the campaign for healthier lungs.”
