Grade A for the environment

Environmental concerns are always at the forefront of any work carried out by Lucas, and with each and every project the company does everything in its power to ensure ultimately high standards are maintained.
To this end, Lucas furnishes data to main contractors for Monthly Environmental Reports, and on two projects under the control of Mace, Lucas has scored a maximum 100% ‘A Grade’. These are for work being carried out at Sky Building 2 for BSkyB, and the Nova scheme which is part of the transformation of the Victoria area of London.
Information is supplied by Lucas' Project Support department headed up by Project Support Manager Nathalie Marneweck on these contracts and includes data such as the amount of paint delivered to site, the date of delivery, the distance travelled between the despatch depot and the site address, and the amount of waste collected.
From this data the Sustainability Team at Mace can calculate other factors such as the amount of fuel used. The team assesses whether or not the data was submitted without prompt, submitted on time and the accuracy. Environmental observations are also taken into account.
Data submission also includes a ‘Tool Box Talk’ where operatives from Lucas working on the project are given an environmental overview of the company’s contribution.
“This is great news for Lucas,” says Danny Lucas, managing director of Lucas, “and is testament to the amount of effort we all put in to environmental matters.”
