Lucas mobilises emergency coronavirus countermeasures to support its operatives

Quick thinking by Lucas has secured a substantial supply of thermometers and Lucas branded hand sanitizers to keep our teams of operatives healthy and safe out on site during the current coronavirus emergency

We asked our laboratory technicians to turn their attention from new paint formulations to analysing sanitizer formulations, and secure raw materials in order for us to manufacture major supplies of our own hand sanitizers.

The first batch was completed at our facility last week and bottles were sent out to all our operatives. And as word spread that we were in production we have had many requests from charities, old peoples’ homes and veterans associations for help too. We sent supplies to people working at the Canterbury food bank and hope to meet further requests in due course.

We also moved swiftly to secure supplies of NHS approved infra-red thermometers which are now with our health and safety teams who check all operatives’ temperatures first thing in the morning and when they are ready to leave site.

Danny Lucas, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Lucas, said: “Although our industry has gone into temporary lockdown while we adapt sites to suit new social distancing requirements, we have adopted extra special measures during this crisis to ensure the protection of our workforce and maintain business continuity as expected of us by the construction industry itself and the UK Government.”
