Lucas wins special “Leadership in the pandemic” award from Construction News

Lucas has scooped a special “Leadership in the pandemic” award at the Construction News Specialist Awards 2021 held last night in central London.
This is a special editor’s award recognising the huge response by the industry to meet the challenges brought on by Covid-19.
Every company shortlisted in all the awards categories last night was automatically entered for this award and we are hugely surprised and proud to have won it.
Construction News editor Lem Bingly cited our “Stop the spread” campaign and our special efforts to keep our workforce safe and help local communities. He noted we asked our laboratory technicians to switch from working on new paint formulations to developing our own hand sanitiser, and that we turned our production facilities over to making hand wash stations for ourselves and others.
He also noted we raised funds from the hand wash stations for the British Lung Foundation and donated supplies to care homes and NHS facilities.
The award for the Lucas team comes hard on the heels of the award for our Outstanding Contribution to the Industry at last month’s Construction News Industry Awards, again a special award that forms part of Construction News’ 150 years celebrations.
We were also highly commended in two awards categories last night – for Digital Construction Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Specialist Construction.
Danny Lucas said: “The whole team at Lucas is just so proud to have won this special award. We always think out of the ordinary, to work really hard at what we do every day but also to progress the industry for the benefit of the wider community.”
