Lucas Updates Headquarters for the British Lung Foundation
A fit out and finishing team from Lucas worked every weekend throughout September on a pro bono basis to create a smart, new look to the London headquarters of the British Lung Foundation (BLF).
The team stripped out old flooring, a glass wall, light fittings and old skirting boards. We then installed new internal walls, modern, sustainable Bolon flooring, new light fittings and redecorated throughout to create a welcoming reception area and ground floor for the BLF team. We also laid new floor tiles down the stairs and into the basement areas and redecorated where the BLF has its meeting rooms.
The Lucas team made sure the site was clear and entirely accessible when it left each Sunday evening so as not to disrupt staff arriving on Monday morning. The result has been to completely update the charity’s working environment and facilities for its visiting supporters.
Lucas is a founding partner of the Living Well Alliance, an initiative of the BLF which brings together companies who provide products, devices or treatments such as Lucas Breathe, that support people to manage their lung conditions. As well as creating this exciting new product, we want to promote awareness and new initiatives within construction to make a real difference to air quality in our built environment for both construction workers and the people who use the buildings and infrastructure we create.
The BLF is the only charity looking after the nation’s lungs. They give hope, help and a voice by researching new treatments, raising awareness of lung heath, campaigning for cleaner air and better care and supporting people living with lung disease across the UK.
Dr Penny Woods, Chief Executive of the British Lung Foundation said:
“We’re so grateful to the Lucas team for their fantastic pro-bono work at our London office. Our headquarters look refreshed and even more welcoming to all who visit us. Our staff are thrilled with the results.
Lucas’s generous help saves us money on a refurb, which can now be spent on supporting people with lung conditions.
We’re proud to work with Lucas as a member of our Living Well Alliance, which brings together companies to help us improve the lives of people living with lung conditions.”
