Bright young things join Lucas

Lucas has been making every effort to interest young people and bring them into the construction industry. It is why we invested in our new Visitor and Learning Centre and welcomed in schools and other visitors during Open Doors week, and why we tried to forge strong links with further education colleges across the country.

Well, we are delighted to have recruited four new youngsters in recent months to our head office team and pleased that they are all settling in well.

Ben Francis, 21, is working with us as a pre-construction assistant on the fit out side of the business. He takes responsibility for the mobilisation of new projects from tendering, to getting us up and running on site and procuring supplies.

Alex Bennett, 18, joined us straight from school. He is working on our software developments, building our apps and helping Lucas become a full digital company.

James Drake, 20, joined us from Salesforce, the customer relationship management specialist, so he is new to the construction businesses. He has joined our IT team.

Finally, we are delighted to welcome Jakob Lucas, 18, Danny’s son who is the latest member of the Lucas family to join the company and will be working with the project delivery teams.

Danny Lucas said: “I’m thrilled that Jakob and the other new recruits are settling in. It is so important that we encourage new, young talent into construction.”
