Bluewater revisited

A specialist painting team from Lucas is back at the Bluewater Park shopping centre near Dartford in Kent. This time we are working at night to clean and re-spray a set of 11 huge ceiling decorations hanging down in the Rose Gallery.

This is testing, high level work which must be carried out while the centre is closed. The team is using mobile elevating working platforms (MEWPS), vacuum back-packs to clean down the surfaces, and spraying a special dry fall coating so that any overspray immediately sets on the protective covers below leaving no trace in the gallery

Bluewater Park offers the ultimate shopping and leisure experience and has an important place in the history of Lucas. We worked directly for the American architect, Eric Coombe, when the centre was first being built back in 1998. We developed a Muralplast faux stone finish under Eric’s direction for a signature decorative effect for the internal walls throughout the centre. We were back at Bluewater a couple of years ago with a redecorations programme to re-apply the same unique finish.

The current overnight decorations programme is scheduled over six weeks.
