Lucas brings together the historic and modern City of London
Lucas specialists are about to embark on a precise refurbishment project to bring one of the City’s historic commercial buildings into one of its most modern developments known as Gotham City.
The Grade II listed building at 19-21 Billiter Street, once home to the London Shipping Exchange, is adjacent to 40 Leadenhall Street where we are already deeply involved. The new, tiered, tall office building with multiple amenity spaces is designed by the renowned architects Make.
Our refurbishment team in Billiter Street is tasked with bringing this wonderful 1865 building back to its very best. Lucas heritage specialists will revive the splendour of original ceiling roses, internal columns, Victorian panelling and joinery, including a magnificent central feature oak staircase.
We will be decorating all commercial spaces within the building to include a fitness and wellness centre, salon, pelaton room and other amenities which reflect the superb new facilities of the wider development. We will also apply specialist resin coatings to the basement and back of house areas.
The developer of the whole project is Nuveen and the Main Contractor is Mace.
