Arriving on time at Birmingham New Street
S. Lucas has won an early painting package from Network Rail on the long term redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station. The construction manager for the project is Mace. We have been appointed to “black out” all the concrete soffits, pipework and metalwork in an area that previously formed part of the station’s multi-storey carpark and which is now being transformed into a new station concourse some three and a half times bigger than the present concourse. A suspended, sculpted ceiling will be installed and we are blacking out everything above it so that the ceiling will give the impression of floating above the modern concourse. Our surface treatment advisers drew up a specification to meet Network Rail’s exacting standards. We are using MSP or multi surface paint from our Muralplast range of products that provides a consistent finish across the variety of surfaces we’re covering.
