Access without scaffolding saves 50% of time for external redecoration

S. Lucas have recently completed the external redecoration of a large residential building in just four weeks instead of the seven-to-eight weeks projected for conventional methods. The key to this time saving was the use of state-of-the-art powered access equipment - cherry pickers - instead of scaffolding. The work, carried out for the Park View Residents Association with Vanns & Jones acting as managing agents, included redecoration of all painted surfaces such as bargeboards, soffits, facias and louvred doors.

Low pressure steam cleaning was carried out on stonework balconies and window sills, which were then sealed to prevent the growth of algae and fungus. All PVC windows were cleaned together with plastic guttering and downpipes. The use of cherry pickers not only saved time but also meant the building stayed tidy and secure for the duration of the work, which was completed on time and on budget.
