New 3D printing laboratory comes on stream
The first fruits of Lucas’s investment in the latest 3D printing technologies are now apparent with two early important commissions.
Our collaboration with global 3D printing specialist Stratasys gives us rapid prototyping capabilities to produce bespoke components, design new elements, solve on-site construction problems and prevent project delays.
Our design team’s first assignment has come from our technology partner McLaren for whom we are designing a prototype “IT tech bar”. It is ergonomically designed to tie in with the McLaren Technology Centre where technicians manage a whole range of IT equipment for the company’s staff in Woking, Surrey.
The second assignment comes from one of our major construction clients who want to create modular “learning pods” for their sites. The pods can be quickly assembled and placed within temporary accommodation across their major projects and will serve to provide best practice, walk in training centres for management and operatives on site where topics such as health, safety and quality can be experienced in a virtual reality environment.
Danny Lucas said: “Our 3D modelling capability now allows us to provide our clients with new ideas quickly and efficiently. They can test and prove their concepts with our models not only for their buildings, but also to enhance the lives of their staff and others.”
