A Living Well Alliance between The British Lung Foundation and Lucas

Lucas shakes hand on partnership with British Lung Foundation

Lucas with Lucas Breathe is thrilled to announce that we are now a Living Well Alliance partner with the British Lung Foundation. The Living Well Alliance initiative brings together specially selected companies who provide products, devices or treatments that support people to manage their lung conditions.

As one of the UK construction industry’s leading specialist fit out and finishing contractors and 2017 winners of Construction News, Specialist Contractor (under £100m) Award, Lucas Executive Chairman & Managing Director, Danny Lucas’ comments on why the partnership is the perfect alignment. “Our aim is to continually set new standards. We recognise that there is a dire need to improve the air quality around the world. Lucas Breathe has been developed as a new protective surface treatment that cleans the surrounding air. With one in five people coping with respiratory problems, effective change for how we manage the air in our urban and busy traffic environments can make a big impact on people’s lives”.

Lucas Breathe is a coating that can be applied to concrete, natural stone and clay products on facades, ground surfaces and motorway bridges, barriers and ramparts, which neutralises the harmful NOx gases with a photocatalytic activity of Titanium Dioxide and natural sunlight, into harmless substances: water, CO2 and nitrate salts.

The Lucas Breathe treatment for external ground surfaces and facades is proven to continually improve air quality, dramatically reduce Volatile Organic Compounds, traffic Nitrous Oxide and odours. It resists the growth of mould, killing airborne spores and allergens to help prevention of asthma and breathing problems and is performance underwritten by substantial independent analysis and testing by Queen’s University, Belfast for the Removal of nitric oxide - ISO 22197- 1:2007.

Jason Cater, Director of Fundraising at the British Lung Foundation, said:

“We are confident that our new Living Well Alliance partnership with Lucas will help bring positive changes in controlling air pollution in urban areas. We are extremely grateful for their support.”

All British Lung Foundation (BLF) Living Well Alliance members have made a donation to the BLF, supporting the charity’s work in looking after the nation’s lungs, so that one day everyone can breathe clean air with healthy lungs.
